The camp is made to contain 256 prisoners but currently has 288 inmates. This facility has 26 buildings which contain a warehouse, landscape, garage, and a General Plant (GLCP) outside and part of this prison.

The Tucson United States Penitentiary holds 4 housing units and the Special Housing Unit is in the institution. This facility takes up 250 acres of land with a wellness center for the training staff with a firing range.

Letters are permitted in the Tucson United States Penitentiary. However, care packages will need to be approved by personnel.

Phone calls

The Tucson United States Penitentiary allows inmates to have 15-minute phone conversations with family and friends.

The inmates however must use their minutes wisely as they are only allowed to talk on the phone up to 300 minutes a month. But during the holidays they are given another 100 minutes.

Visitation

Visitation at the Tucson United States Penitentiary typically is done on weekends from 8 am to about 3 pm.

During this time, if you are an approved visitor, you will be allowed to come to the facility and visit with the inmate.

If you are not an approved visitor, it is your duty to fill out the application and wait to be approved. This process can take anywhere from a month to six weeks.
